What is a Training Point?

In a nutshell, a training point is a type of currency that allows you to train spells that are not naturally learned from your instructors or via questing. These spells are known as “off-school” spells since they come from schools outside of your area of focus. TPS are very helpful in both PvP (ex. Tower Shield) and PvE (ex: enhancements such as Epic).

Complete Guide to Training Points - Final Bastion (1)How can I acquire Training Points?

TPS are acquired in 2 main ways. Naturally via leveling up or by completing certain quests which reward training points. Wizards acquire 1 training point every 4 levels until level 20. Moreover, beyond level 20, wizards acquire TPS every 5 levels. At the current max level (Lvl 170), a wizard can acquire a total of 71 training points from training point quests (37 training points) and achieving max lvl (34 training points).

Training Points allow you to train any off school spell at a number of trainers hidden throughout the Spiral. Each spell trained costs 1 training point. Choose wisely! After a training point is used it can only be refunded for crowns from Mr. Lincoln in Golem Court. Once you refund your TPS, you lose all spells that you have trained with these points. The crowns cost varies with the number of training points you are attempting to recover (a refund of the first 3 TPS is free) with a cost of 350 crowns per training point beyond the initial 3. Do note that the refund is all or nothing meaning you will always have to refund all of your training points when purchasing from Mr. Lincoln. This can be quite expensive at the higher levels. However, if you are a subscribing member Kingsisle occasionally offers a member benefit allowing you to recover your TPS for free. If you have a lot of TPS that you want to be refunded then it may be a good idea to wait for this benefit before heading to Mr. Lincoln.
